Events and Workshops
We are holding a series of events and workshopsduring the exhibition - these are open to anyone, no previous experience necessary!

The workshops include Wirework, Glass Fusing, Blacksmithing, Dynamic Drawing, Collage and Printing as well as a Sensory Walk and a demonstration and talk by sculptor, Carol Orwin. There will also be an opportunity to see live stone carving in traditional styles. We will also be hosting music, singing, poetry and readings - these will usually be at the weekends, but check the diary for details.

Workshop Details

Saturday 8th September 1-5pm (not suitable for children, over 16s only)
This workshop is now FULL

Lindsay Waring Workshop - making a wire robin Give a gift with a personal touch this Christmas. Make a robin from wire with step by step tuition from wire sculptor, Lindsay Waring.
• Four hours tutoring (maximum group size 10)
• Tools and materials supplied
• Please bring your own gloves - sturdy gardening gloves are ideal

Cost is £45 per person (normal price is over £100 per person!) and includes entry to the exhibition.
Drinks, hot meals and sandwiches are available to purchase at the venue if you want to enjoy the morning at the exhibition first.

Sunday 9th and 16th September 10am-12 and 2-4pm
Julie Grose: Blacksmithing

Create a hook, keyring or your initial in metal using some of the fundamental smithing techniques – tapering, scrolling, hammering, twisting, flattering and punching! For anyone aged 8+
• One-to-one tuition in a 20 minute session
• Take away your own creation
• All materials included

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September 11am-1pm
Anne Gingell: Dynamic Drawing Workshop

Take part in a guided drawing event - expression through movement. No experience required!
• Must be booked in advance
• All materials included

Anne will also be holding her workshop on the afternoons of 15th and 16th 2-4pm but you don't need to book in advance, just turn up and pay on the day.

Sunday 16th September 10.30 – 12.30 and 2-4pm
Shirley Eccles: glass fusing workshops

An introduction to glass fusing and slumping. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of glass materials including glass frits, confetti, and even melting stringers over a flame. You will may make a coaster, small or large platter to take home.
Cost is £25 deposit per person and materials cost will depend on what you decide to make: £10 for a coaster, £25 for a small and £35 for a large platter.

Sunday 16th September 2-4pm
Stuart Mabbutt and William Mankelow: Sensory Walk

Come and explore the vineyard and sculpture with 'Wildman' Stuart using ALL your senses! Taste the autumn, smell the leaves, listen to the trees...! Also view nature in close up with William, a professional photographer, using the camera on your phone (or other camera) to see things from a different angle, notice the space you occupy to help you take better photos. This workshop will help you to become more aware of the nature that's all around you, and use all your senses whether you are in the town or the country!
• Two hours guided experience
• Macro photography instructions
• Please wear shoes suitable for walking on rough ground

Saturday 22nd September 2-4pm
Amelia Swan Printing Workshop
– for children and young people aged 5 and up
We will be looking at Collograph printing, starting with printing using a variety of materials and fabrics to create different textures and effects. Then finishing with creating a final Collograph plate and prints.
Cost is £15 per person and includes free entry to the exhibition.

Sunday 23rd September 10.30am-12.30pm
Amelia Swan 3D Collage Workshop
– for young people (will be using a hot glue gun) aged 8 and up
You will start by choosing and painting your wooden base and then go on to use a variety of wooden scrap shapes and carpentry offcuts to build your own sculpture using a hot glue gun. You can be as playful or precise as you like! This is a very open and accessible workshop for people of all ages and abilities!
